Sapphire Ventures – Menlo Park

Sapphire Venture’s new office headquarters intentionally rewrites the culture of office domain, dispensing with org-chart hierarchy and delivering flexible workspace in a palette of daylight and material clarity. Beyond the impact of the workspace itself, relocation from a suburban office park to an urban town center provides their team access to more amenities while supporting local business.

The design concept creates a sense of order and rhythm in an irregular floorplate first by gathering and focusing space at the ceiling plane. Craftsmanship and natural material expression is on display at every wall surface with almost no paint in the project. A palette of concrete, blackened steel, natural wood slats, reconstituted wood veneer millwork and trim, corduroy wool felt wall covering, and acoustical fabric paneling makes the space visually calm yet rich and acoustically soft.

Flexible rooms include D-top tables with wall-mounted monitors on articulating supports, allowing them to easily serve as private offices, small conference rooms, or collaborative spaces.

Well furnished and planted outdoor terraces are popular as a workspace more connected to nature, providing renewed focus and rejuvenation, and a place to lounge at lunch or after-hours events.
